So Children May Fulfill Their Greatest Potential
Rocky Mountain Montessori Foundation is a Colorado-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to nurturing, high-quality infant and toddler care and strengthening Montessori-aligned early learning environments in Jefferson County and the surrounding Southwest Denver metro area.
We focus on the earliest years of life, birth through age three, when children are forming the foundations for emotional security, independence, and lifelong learning. During this critical period, access to stable, respectful care can shape not only a child’s development, but also a family’s well-being and ability to thrive.
The Foundation was created in response to persistent shortages of licensed infant and toddler care and the growing financial barriers many families face. When high-quality care is unavailable or unaffordable, families (often mothers) are forced into difficult choices that affect employment, stability, and long-term opportunity. We exist to help remove those barriers while supporting environments that truly honor children’s developmental needs.
Our work is grounded in Montessori principles, including respect for the child/environment/community, independence, movement, and intentionally prepared environments. We believe children flourish when they are met with calm, consistency, and materials that invite exploration and self-directed learning. To support this vision, we pair tuition assistance for families with direct investments in Montessori-aligned learning environments, using natural materials, developmentally appropriate tools, and nature-based experiences.
Rocky Mountain Montessori Foundation partners with families, early childhood programs, and community supporters to ensure resources are used responsibly, transparently, and for lasting impact. As we grow, our goal is to expand access to respectful early care and strengthen the conditions that allow young children, and the families who care for them, to reach their fullest potential.
